ABOUT MAKU SICA

A dynamic experimental duo from Chicago, Maku Sica is Przemyslaw Krys Drazek (electric trumpet, mandolin, electric guitar) and Brent Fuscaldo (vocals, electric bass, harmonica, thumb piano, gong, percussion).

Since they formed in early 2007, they have appeared on releases by Feeding Tube Records, Astral Spirits, Instant Classic, La Société Expéditionnaire, Permanent, BLW BCK, Instant Classic, Slow Knife, and Plus Tapes.  Their collaborations with various instrumentalists include master percussionist Hamid Drake, bassist Tatsu Aoki, Mark Shippy (US Maple, Shorty), Thymme Jones (Cheer Accident, Brise-Glace), Michael Kendrick (rope), Chataen Newell, and Jacob Fawcett.

Maku Sica's entrancing and improvisational sound weaves moody guitars with primal vocals that evoke meditative and transcendental vibes that won them The Observer's spot as one of the top 10 best experimental albums of 2017.

Their latest release, Ourania is described by Bill Meyer of Dusted Mag as weaving through a sequence of patient grooves like migrational birds on the glide.
